The Sunflower I Never Planted

Suddenly, right in the middle of my tomato plants, a sturdy, healthy plant was growing. I was almost 100% sure I didn’t plant any seeds on that spot because it was too close to one of the tomato plants.

Everyday I will take a look and wonder what kind of plant or weed it was.

Decided to share it with my Gardening club. Nobody was quite sure. Then my friend defended the cause of the plant (which I was now convinced was a weed) and encouraged me to keep it and watch what it will become! (message for another day right there!)

and Voila!!! Some weeks later, it blossomed into a Sunflower plant ! I have never even bought Sunflower seeds before!!

Since then I have learnt quite a bit about them:

drought-tolerant 

pest-resistant

love the summer 

thrive with lots of light

Call me cheesy but when a beautiful Sunflower (that you didn’t plant) suddenly grows in your garden, you see Abba in it. Afterall, nothing escapes the Father’s notice! 

And as I reflected on this very very beautiful flower, two verses came to my mind. Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? Psalm 46 : 5

God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
